Rolling Rolling Rolling....

So what's new in Greg Land I hear you ask?

Not a lot, sad to say. I'm still waiting on the paperwork from the council for my new job. Fun the waiting game isn't it? Yeah, right...

However, I WILL need transport to my new job (when it finally starts). It was with this in mind that I set forth last weekend on a Great Car Expedition. Pretty much to see what I'd fit into... because I wanted a small car you see.

Now as many of my friends on here are American they are probably going "Small car? No problem! why I can fit a small rhino in the boot of my small car and still have room for the barbequeue to cook it on!" Well yes, thats all well and good in a land that has lanes as wide as some of our roads, but in europe we have a slightly different definition of a small car.

Namely that it should be small.

Anyhow, with our micro, mini, super-mini, and the standard compact class.. there are quite a few small cars to choose from. The main reason I wanted a small car was for insurance reasons - smaller engine, less expensive, cheaper to insure. However I also just wanted one because, well, it was smaller. I was never too happy with the Rover (RIP) because it was, while nice, a squat fat car that was pretty large - especially for UK roads.

So what car to go for?

Well we (myself and the parents) looked around all the usual suspects - Peugeot, Vauxhall, Renault, Daewoo, Nissan, Fiat, Kia.. etc etc and the one that eventually won out was... Nissan, with their new Micra. Click that link to see the details of the  model I'm getting, or just look below to see it in its "Aruba Blue"  Pearlescent metalic paint glory:
the new nissan micra, 2003 onwards, in Aruba Blue
Pretty isn't it?

That got into the garage today, and I probably won't be able to pick it up till monday, damnit. Guess I have to play the waiting game again for a bit more...

cool, nice and tiny;) Yeah, I was gonna say don't go for the Daewoo. I have a Lanos and although I like the size...sucks for me to get parts anyways..like if I were to be in an accident.

Well... there are a lot of Daewoo places around here, but yeah, its a valid point.

However the cars I was looking at didn't really work for me, so it wasn't a problem.

The one I was looking at was a Kalos... if that means anything.

Aye, I was going to recommend against Daewoo and Kia. Not sure how they are over there, but Korean cars in the US generally are quite crap in the quality department. Though I will say, Nissan does make a damned fine automobile.

*looks at the car*
Man, you don't have fat guys in the UK, do you? ;]

Not to the special scale and percentage that you have over there.. but the numbers are rising.

Daewoo is actually owned by GM now. The Kia was suprisingly roomy, and was a serious concideration.

SWEET! Nissan's are the best! Of coarse I may be a bit prejudiced as my first car was a Nissan, well technically a Datsun* but who cares. God I loved that car, handled like a dream. Good choice, love all the accessories.

*1972 Datsun 510, Dark Metallic Blue... don't get me started

Well I remember Avi was very in love with her Nissan (and the Z) but in the end it was the space, design, and quality that won it together.

Re: Get them doggies rolling!
Yup! pretty! :D

The other colour that we were looking at for the micra (not as good a deal tho) was "Coral Blue" which is a paler, almost powder blue. Its nice, but I prefer the one I'm getting :D

You look like a bigger, more robust Robert Smith.

Nice journal, btw. You should post in it more frequently.

Haha, yeah I guess in that icon I do a bit, I look like I'm wearing eyeliner and black lipstick in it.. tho I'm not. Thats probably why!

And thanks, I should post more.. I probably will eventually!
